PROJECT INTRODUCTION

Is it possible to know that most foot, back, and joint problems of our time are caused by inappropriate footwear?

Not for Slowers.

Discovering and experiencing this in my body led me to research and design new barefoot shoes. Footwear that is not more of the same and that answers the question:

What can these shoes provide that no other footwear can?

BAREFOOT

Respect for the shape and function of your feet. As a designer and barefoot enthusiast, I wanted to honor our feet (perfect as they are) and respect the intelligence of nature.

Your feet don’t need reinforcements, cushions, or anything that squeezes or causes pain. They need to be free to use the millions of nerve endings, muscles, and joints that make them up. Allowing them to be is all you need for your body to be in balance.

0 Drop: flat soles that help maintain good balance and correct posture. Flexible and thin soles: they adapt and accompany the movement of your feet so that they stay strong and healthy over the years. Taking care of the 26 bones, 33 joints, and more than 1000 muscles, tendons, ligaments, and 6,000 nerve endings in each of your feet. Space for your toes: footwear that does not squeeze or deform your toes. The width of the toe box allows mobility and openness to keep them toned. Always helping with vascularization and maintaining balance. Adapted: with a removable insole for your transition to barefoot. Delightful: footwear that hugs your foot, and you’ll only want to take off when you go barefoot.

INNOVATIVE, ORGANIC, VEGAN, AND LOCAL MATERIALS

Slowers’ barefoot shoes are made from a super innovative vegan leather, created from persimmon khakis collected from the fields surrounding the city of Valencia. An innovative material developed by the Technological Institute of Textile and the Valencian startup Persiskin.

After more than a year searching for plastic-free vegan leather (with a significant percentage of organic material), we finally found this newly invented super material. There is no vegan leather quite like this!

80% surplus persimmon harvest + biologically based material = material with very similar properties to leather but biodegradable, hypoallergenic, and free from heavy metals and animal cruelty.

• The interior is made of organic cotton, suitable for sensitive skin.
• Removable insole made of organic linen.
• Base of vegan leather and organic cotton.
• Recycled rubber to avoid tying laces.
• No metallic elements in the eyelets.
• Biodegradable cork labels.
• And the soles, made of rubber, organic local material (coffee and rice husks), and recyclable.
• All materials have their certifications, and we can trace their traceability.

Valencian farmers receive money for a persimmon that would have been discarded, and we have a local material with an incredible feel, biodegradable and durable.

GROUNDING. Rooting and reconnection with nature.

Our soles have grounding to synchronize the magnetic field of the Earth with yours. Discharge the excess electromagnetic energy around you and walk in harmony with the planet’s vibration.

ANCHOR FOR TRUSTING YOURSELF AND LIFE

“Trust in your way” is the message printed on various parts of the shoe. Your barefoot shoes will come with a meditation audio to activate that anchor and feel deep confidence in yourself every time you wear them.

Walking stable, flat, and in communication with the earth helps you feel more secure. The total contact of the sole of your foot with the ground, returning to your natural balance, along with the psychological anchor, will activate your confidence in yourself, your body, and the intelligence of life.

SACRED GEOMETRY TO HARMONIZE YOUR BODY

On the soles, we have added sacred geometry symbols that harmonize your body and synchronize it with the Earth’s energy.

We have also included the word “Thanks” because gratitude is the most powerful and positive vibration our body can receive. Masaru Emoto’s studies demonstrate how the word “thanks” can harmonize water molecules. And we are over 70% water!

Its organic silhouette, sinuous shapes, and color palette are inspired by the forms of nature. We love observing and feeling the beauty transmitted by the curves of fern leaves, the meanders of rivers, the silhouette of mountains, or the gentle waves of the sea reaching the beach.

Each line has been designed to fit well and stylize the shape of your feet. We don’t believe that you have to compromise style to live a healthy, sustainable, and barefoot life.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENTS

Two pieces of information (and a conclusion) to share with you.

The first: over 90% of the world’s footwear is produced in Asia (often neglecting working conditions and contaminating without care).

The second: in Alicante, we have a long shoemaking tradition, yet every year, we import more than 300,000 million pairs into Spain. Just one boat trip from Asia generates more CO2 than you or I will produce in several lifetimes.

Our 10 years of experience in designing and producing shoes, along with our good relationship with suppliers and workshops, give us confidence to overcome any challenges that may arise.

Because, yes, there is no project without risks; saying otherwise would be lying to you. That’s why, even though circumstances beyond our control may occur, we have a commitment to you: open communication, honesty, and perseverance to achieve our goal.

INSOLES

All models include insoles so that, if needed, you can transition to barefoot in a safe and respectful way for your feet.

DESIGN CHANGES

The sneakers you see in the photos are final prototypes, very close to the final product you will receive. However, the design may be subject to slight final changes.

REFUNDS

Please note that we cannot offer refunds after the Kickstarter campaign is completed, but we do offer size exchanges or changes in color or for another pair of shoes from our store (slowers-shoes.com).

FACTORIES

Our factories are powered by solar energy, and all suppliers are located in the Valencian Community, as well as our offices and warehouse. Choosing Slowers means choosing design, manufacturing, and zero-kilometer shipping. It ensures fair and safe conditions for workers.
