Slowers was created on the principle of respect for people and the environment. In line with this we have a sustainability strategy that we apply to all our processes and we strive to comply with and improve.
RAW MATERIALS
All raw materials used in the manufacture of items sold on www.slowers.es are made in Spain. In the case of products that are not manufactured in Spain, we take pains to find out about their provenance and inform customers.
The cotton used at Slowers is certified organic cotton by GOTS. This seal is the leading standard in textile processing of organic fibers and includes ecological and social criteria.
Organic cotton uses cultivation and production methods that reduce the impact of this crop on people and the environment. Conventional cotton, to name a few figures, uses 25% of all insecticides and 10% of the pesticides used worldwide.
We print digitally on these fabrics, which is the most environmentally friendly printing technique currently available (because it uses no water, no ink is lost, no fabric is wasted in tests and the fabric does not require any pretreatment).
Slowers is a vegan brand, we’re animal friendly and don’t use leather in our designs.
PROCESSES
Manufacturing processes take place entirely in Spain. The espadrilles are made by a family business located in a town of fewer than 2,000 inhabitants, where they are hand sewn. This is an artisan process that has been followed for decades.
One goal of the Slowers project is to enhance craft products and rural life. All products offered on www.slowers.es share these values, and are produced in workshops located in small towns.
PACKAGING AND TRANSPORT
We don’t use plastic for packaging. The raw materials are 100% natural and our packaging is also natural, made of cardboard and kraft paper.
Local production and selection of Spanish raw materials ensure a minimal transport footprint.
