What are the values that drive Slowers?
Actually, this is one of the first questions I asked myself when I started Slowers. I’ve always wanted this project to be consistent, with a why, a what, and a how. And it wasn’t exactly easy to come up with an answer, especially when I tried to narrow it down to only three main values, the three values that represent the essence of Slowers. So here we go:
RESPECT
How could I live with myself if I knew that my project was hurting someone somewhere on the planet? Or the planet itself? Impossible. I think each person defines the world they want through their actions, I think another type of consumer behavior is possible and I also believe that there is another way to make fashion, so Slowers is my personal contribution to create the world I want.
HONESTY
No gimmicks. I believe that this website is a statement of intent: who I am, what Slowers is, how our products are made, what I like … This is what it is, and so I tell you. It couldn’t be simpler, right?
ENJOY
I’m very clear on this one; if one day I feel I’m no longer having fun with this project, if my head stops bursting with ideas about what I’m going to do next, if I stop feeling the passion burning inside me, that day, if it comes, will be the day to start a new adventure (at least as exciting as this one, of course). Steve Jobs put it perfectly: “Every day I look in the mirror and ask myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I’m going to do today?’ If the answer is ‘no’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something”
